"When you think positive, happy loving thoughts,
there's a different chemistry that goes into your body,
than when you think depressing, negative, anguished thoughts.
The way you decide to think has a dramatic effect,
on your chemistry and on your physiology."
Dr Wayne W Dyer

Classes

Every session includes the following:

  • Get centred - Light Pratyahara - 'off the hamster wheel' leave the world behind and mono-task!
  • Postures - Asana - develop strength, balance and flexibility.
  • Breathing - Pranayama - breath control - breath and mind and intrinsically linked - slow breath, calm mind.
  • Relax - Dharana/Dhyana - guided meditation and relaxation for that serene feeling.

Before you practice Yoga it’s worth bearing these few things in mind:
• Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. Layers are good so you can make sure your body stays at the right temperature. Tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts are good. No belts or large jewellery.
• Bring a non-slip mat or large beach towel; mats are available for beginners to borrow. Also these are available to purchase from the BWY online shop. Place your mat in a spot comfortable for you..
• Visit the toilet before practice!
• Make sure you haven’t eaten too much recently – wait 4 hours after a heavy meal and 2 hours after a light meal. You can bring a bottle of water to sip in class.
• A blanket to keep warm for relaxation, as well as a small cushion to rest your head on, can be useful.
• Try to practice ‘at home’. What about trying Salute to the Sun every morning? Set aside a quiet space for a home practice. Or you could try some conscious breathing in traffic jam or Tadasana in the supermarket check-out queue! You’ll soon see the benefits. A calmer, more focussed you!
• Importantly – always tell your teacher if you have a medical condition, then you can make sure you follow the precautions or prohibitions for a safe practice.

The one-to one sessions I had with Jacqui to help combat my back pain and postural problems were fantastic. Jacqui used her expertise to tailor sessions around my needs, gently working and strengthening my back. She listened to my comments and adapted the session accordingly and the results have been outstanding. The session was so helpful that we even recorded one so I could do it at home! Gemma

Jacqui was really great and very accommodating, particularly when a group managed to triple in size?! People came out of the session really talkative, smiley and motivated. Horton Housing Association Corporate Session at their Annual Conference working via The Lotus Exchange

Yoga Day for All
with Rosemary Bennett (Prema)
at the Bullcroft Memorial Hall, Skellow DN6 8AP, near Doncaster on Sunday, 2 November 2008 from 10.00—16.30 £20 for BWY-members, £25 for non-Members
Parinama — change & transformation with yoga This day will focus on personal practice and development through the practice of asana, pranayama, mudra and bandha, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, mantra and self-enquiry. We will study the concept of ‘Parinama’ or change and transformation, particularly the transformation of the mind. Many of our actions, speech and thoughts are controlled by habitual behaviour, through our yoga practice we can alter these.
An inspiring national and international teacher, Rosemary is a BWY Diploma Course Tutor and has been practising & teaching yoga for over 20 years.
At Mid-day (12.30-14.00) we will have the Regional AGM and a Bring & Share Vegetarian Lunch. There is no charge for this and you do not need to book, but if you let us know in advance that you ’re going to attend, it will really help the lunch organisers.
